Study options

Four study levels, matched to where you are now.

You don't need to choose a level before contacting us; we work that out together. Below is an overview of each one.

For a new start

Foundation

A Foundation year prepares you for degree-level study. It suits people whose qualifications are from some years ago or from another country, those who don't yet meet Bachelor's entry requirements, and anyone moving into a new subject area. You develop study skills and subject knowledge, then progress into the first year of a degree.

Good to know

  • Recent or UK qualifications aren't required to start.
  • Progresses into a Bachelor's degree.
  • Can be funded through Student Finance for eligible students.
Undergraduate degree

Bachelor's degree

A full undergraduate degree in your chosen subject, and a common requirement for many professional roles. The courses we recommend are offered in formats designed for working adults, so you can study while keeping your income. You can start here directly or progress to it from a Foundation year.

Good to know

  • A recognised UK undergraduate degree.
  • Study formats suited to working adults.
  • Student Finance can cover tuition and help with living costs for eligible students.
Complete your degree

Top-up

If you hold a diploma or an HND, or completed part of a degree, a Top-up lets you build on it to earn a full Bachelor's, often in one year. We review your existing qualifications to see whether a Top-up is open to you.

Good to know

  • Builds on study you've already completed.
  • Often the quickest route to a full Bachelor's.
  • We check whether your existing credits are accepted.
Postgraduate

Master's degree

Postgraduate study for those who want to specialise, progress into more senior roles or change career direction. Master's courses have their own Student Finance route, separate from undergraduate loans. If you already have a degree, we support your application and funding in the same way as at every other level.

Good to know

  • For applicants who already hold a Bachelor's.
  • A separate Postgraduate Loan is available to eligible students.
  • The same support with your application and enrolment.
